Jose's Goto

Ate Indang and I went to SM Fairview Hypermarket do buy some groceries. But before we do that, let's all have meryienda (snacks) first. One of her all-time-fave is GOTO (rice porridge with beef tripes), and i like it too!

We often eat at Goto King but since we discover Jose's Goto in Hypermarket (Ground floor,SM Fairview Annex), we eat there whenever we're craving for goto. The food tastes good, the serving is big (referring to Busog size) plus the price is affordable. They offer 2 sizes for Goto, the Meryenda size & Busog size and I always opt for the latter hehe

And what better way to enjoy your goto? Order a side dish - Tokwa't baboy (tofu & pork) or just Tokwa (which I prefer) plus don't forget to squeeze in kalamansi (lime)! Sarap! (Delicious!)

Ate Indang enjoying her meal! :)

@ Wendy's!

Remy and I were going to watch a movie which will be starting in less than an hour. Since we both haven't eaten dinner yet, we decided to have a quick bite at Wendys (Upper ground floor,SM Fairview).

Main reason we like Wendy's - coz of its FROSTY! hehe

Well, good thing there was not much people on queue so we were able to order right away. Remy had Side Salad and the new Frosty Float while I ordered their promo meal Mushroom melt with sofdrinks (Php49 only) plus coffee jelly frosty (add Php30 only).

The service was quick as there was not much customers (which was in favor of us :) though its maybe due to the fact that the prices of meals there is kind of expensive compared to other fast food chain. Well, that may also be the reason that they have this limited time prom- 49-ers which I ordered.

The food tastes good but a single burger and a small drink will not suffice your hunger if you are a heavy eater. Chances are you will be ordering a lot more - which is not ok if you're on a tight budget.

Well, we enjoyed our meal and we will be back at Wendy's every now and then .  :)

comfort food :)

Pizzahut

One of our favorite resto in Sm Fairview is Pizzahut. It's at the upper ground floor near the entrance facing Quirino Ave.

Our usual order is the Super Panalo P99 value meals. We call it the '99ers'. You can choose your Appetizer: Soup or Salad or Garlic bread, then the Main Course:Pan Pizza or Pasta or Rice Meal and Drink: Iced Tea or Softdrink. And if you order 2 sets of this value meals, then you'll have a free plate of Garlic Bread.

It's a regular serving portion and not a mini version that I thought they will be giving. For me, Pizzahut serves good food that suits my tastebuds and fills my tummy. :)

In the picture below, Ate Cindy and I ordered two Value meals that consists of 2 soups (chicken & mushroom), 1 Cheeseburger pan pizza,1 Spaghetti Carbonara,2 Iced Tea and  additional order or Olive Garden Salad.

Garlic bread, Mushroom & Chicken Soup

Spaghetti Carbonara

Olive Garden Salad-Freshly picked lettuce, roasted bell peppers, olives, cucumber and herbed croutons; with silky Italian dressing.
After a massage or stroll at the mall or doing the grocery, we dine here. If you haven't eaten at Pizzahut, then try it the next time you visit the mall.

Simot sarap! :)

Hotdog on sticks

Do you remember when you were kids and you were attending a birthday parties?
Aside from playing with the kids, what do you usually like to eat there?
Kids attention are usually caught by this food on the table - Hotdogs on Sticks!

How is it presented? Usually hotdogs on sticks comes with marshmallows and cheese on top and sticked in "saha ng saging" (i think its banana stalk in english hehe)

And since it's my nephew's 2nd birthday today, we also prepared such!

Cheesedog on stick with marshmallow on top of a cabbage! (normally, cabbage is used nowadays as its hard to find saha ng saging. And cabbage serves 2 purposes, first is as the base of the hotdogs on sticks and after that, it can be cooked for a meal! :)

This is very easy to do. Fry hotdogs, place them on sticks (toothpicks can be used) then put marshmallows on top (cheese on top is optional).

Mango Ensalada

Frying is one of the easiest way to make lunch or dinner. And I do that whenever I'm lazy to prepare complicated meals hehe.

But to make eating fried dishes more special add 'sawsawan' (condiments to dip it with - usually soy sauce) betteryet, pair it with Mango Ensalada!

Ingredients:
Mango (I normally use green indian mangoes as these are not too sour)
Tomato
Bagoong (shrimp paste)
Onion - optional (if your an onion-lover)

Just cut the mangoes and tomatoes (plus onions if you like) into tiny bits (or bite size whichever you prefer) and mix together.
Serve it with topped bagoong.

i love mango ensalada!

Pho Hoa and My Thai Restaurant

-21Mar2011 Pho Hoa and My Thai Restaurant-

I'm craving for Beef Pho bo. My sister,Charmy, and I look for a Vietnamese resto in SM Fairview.

We found Pho Hoa and My Thai Restaurant - two resto in one place. Its located at the Ground Floor of the SM City Fairview New Annex.

What they have in the menu is called Mild Spicy Beef Pho bo so we ordered that plus Thai Banana Fritters with Ice cream for dessert.

Mild Spicy Beef Pho bo

Thai Banana Fritters with Ice Cream

Though the food presentation looks good, what matters most is how it taste. Go and get your chopsticks and spoon and eat!

My verdict:
MILD SPICY PHO BO - I dont like it. It doesnt have the Vietnamese taste I'm looking for. Nothing compared to the Pho bo i tried in Ho Chi Minh and especially in Hanoi where I've eaten the best Pho bo so far...

THAI BANANA FRITTERS WITH ICE CREAM - ou can taste the fritters (basically the deep fried batter) but not the banana. The Vanilla ice cream is ok, regular ice cream taste.

OVER-ALL - For me, the ambience of the place seems nice but the food I've ordered are not recommended.

Will I go back there? - Maybe...but to try other food in the menu.

Special Bulalo!

-22Aug2010,Tagaytay,Philippines-

Alex,Joseph and I attended a mass in Caleruega,Batangas. On our way back to Manila (riding on a jeep) we talked about trying Bulalo. But we dont know a restaurant that offers great bulalo. We we're discussing that when another passenger told us to try eating at Diners restaurant that serves special Bulalo. It's in Tagaytay already so its not out of our way.

We took his advice (thanked him as well) and asked the driver to drop us at that resto. It was already past lunch time but there's still quite a number of people there.

"One Special Bulalo for this table please!"
Bulalo is a stewed beef bone marrow. The serving was quite big, the price I think is around Php300-400. It was already good for the three of us plus a bonus take out. And you can ask for 'sabaw' (in this case, its beef soup) refill, which will make you eat more. :)

Special Bulalo

Jospeh trying to get the bone marrow

sabaw refill please...

ooopsss...bone na pala... hehe

see,bone marrow all gone!
It was quite good and we did enjoy it. Will try another resto in Batangas that serves the Bulalo next time just to compare it.

If you're driving to Tagaytay and wants to stop for a bowl of Bulalo, try this.
